Mattel has announced the highly anticipated return of its beloved animated series, “Barbie: A Touch of Magic,” for a second season. Scheduled to premiere on April 18th, the new season will consist of 13 captivating episodes, promising a fresh and mysterious adventure for viewers.
The storyline follows the adventures of Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts and Barbie “Malibu” Roberts as they embark on an exhilarating new journey. Michelle Mendelovitz, the global head of Mattel Television Studios, expressed her excitement about bringing back the series, stating that it aims to inspire wonder, confidence, and exploration among young viewers, reinforcing Barbie’s empowering message that they can achieve anything.
Executive producers Christopher Keenan and Frederic Soulie, along with series director Scott Pleydell-Pearce, are leading the creative team behind the production. The second season, consisting of 13 episodes each lasting 22 minutes, will be available for streaming on Netflix in the United States and various regions including APAC (excluding China), Spain, South Africa, Nordics, and Benelux.
Furthermore, Netflix plans to extend the release to additional territories later this year, including Portugal, the UK, the Middle East, Turkey, Greece, Latin America, Poland, Central & Eastern Europe, France, Italy, and Germany. The series will also be accessible through various global distribution partners such as POP (UK), Super RTL (Germany), Gulli (France), Cartoonito (Italy), and others.
To coincide with the season premiere, a full music EP will be launched, featuring singles “Got the Magic Touch” and “Center Stage,” set to debut on April 5th and April 12th, respectively.
