Munich-based producer-distributor Studio 100 International and film/TV production company Caligari have united their creative forces with Studio 100 Group’s Studio Isar Animation in Germany and 3 Doubles Productions in Spain for an exciting new venture. Their joint project, a CG-animated family action-comedy titled “Dougie Dolittle,” is set to hit screens in the fourth quarter of 2026. Studio 100 Film is gearing up to launch global sales for the film at the upcoming Marché du Film in Cannes next week.
“Dougie Dolittle” promises a heartwarming tale centered around Dougie, a teenage boy plagued by an intense fear of animals. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters his long-lost family parrot, Polly, and discovers a remarkable inherited gift from his renowned grandfather, Doctor Dolittle. Despite initially viewing this newfound ability to communicate with animals as a curse, Dougie embarks on a journey of self-discovery, overcoming his fears to assist his newfound animal companions in thwarting the nefarious plans of an unscrupulous feed company and ultimately saving the city.
Helming the director’s chair for “Dougie Dolittle” is Regina Welker, known for her work on “Latte and the Magic Waterstone.” Mark Slater, acclaimed for “Coconut the Little Dragon,” leads the screenplay, with script consultation from Philip LaZebnik, a notable figure behind “The Prince of Egypt.” The film’s core creative team also includes esteemed art directors Luis Guggenberger, recognized for his contributions to “Captain Marvel,” and Thomas van Kummant, known for his work on “Lilly the Witch.” Gabriele M. Walther represents Caligari Film, while Thorsten Wegener stands as the producer for Studio 100 International.
This collaboration marks a reunion for animation studios Isar and 3 Doubles, previously teaming up on projects such as “Giants of La Mancha” and “Mia & Me: Hero of Centopia.” With their combined expertise and creative vision, “Dougie Dolittle” is poised to captivate audiences with its charming story and vibrant animation when it hits screens in 2026.
