In a groundbreaking move in the realm of visual entertainment services, DNEG has officially introduced its latest venture, DNEG 360, in partnership with Dimension Studio, a pioneer in real-time production. This unveiling marks a significant expansion in the provision of end-to-end client production solutions, spanning from development to post-production phases.
The cornerstone of this milestone is the inauguration of two of the globe’s largest LED volume stages, situated in prominent locations in London and Rome. These cutting-edge stages not only signify a leap forward in technological capabilities but also promise a seamless experience for clients seeking comprehensive production solutions.
DNEG 360 emerges from the collaborative efforts of DNEG and Dimension Studio, following their joint announcement in February 2021 to deliver virtual production services. This new division sets itself apart by offering a comprehensive array of services, including visualization, virtual production, content creation, and development. Clients can now benefit from a streamlined transition through the various stages of production, from conception to final delivery.
The London studio boasts two remarkable stages: Stage One features a curved LED wall comprising 1600 panels, alongside four wild walls and a retractable LED ceiling. Stage Two is specifically tailored for performance, vehicle, and volumetric capture. Meanwhile, the second LED operation at Cinecittà Studios in Rome boasts a 24m x 8m LED volume with an LED ceiling and a 25m rotating platform deck, enabling swift repositioning of sets.
Steve Griffith, Managing Director of DNEG 360 and Dimension Studio, emphasized the unparalleled scale and expertise of the endeavor, stating, “DNEG 360 is the only end-to-end, real-time powered service provider operating at this kind of scale anywhere in the world.” Griffith further underscored the extensive experience of the team, having delivered thousands of shots and over 800 virtual production shoot days, thus refining their approach through hands-on experience.
Since its inception in 2021, DNEG and Dimension Studio have collaborated on a myriad of projects, including esteemed productions such as “Masters of the Air” (Apple TV+), “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (Netflix), and “The Muppets Mayhem” (Disney+), among others.
Namit Malhotra, DNEG Global CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of DNEG 360, hailing it as a testament to the company’s commitment to technological advancement and leadership. Malhotra commended the groundbreaking work of the DNEG 360 team, highlighting the transformative impact of real-time technologies and virtual production techniques on creative possibilities and operational efficiencies.
As clients and partners prepare to explore the state-of-the-art LED volume stages in London and Rome, anticipation mounts for the forthcoming slate of projects from DNEG 360, poised to redefine the landscape of visual entertainment.
