In a thrilling addition to the upcoming “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” Hollywood icon Keanu Reeves, renowned for his roles in the beloved “John Wick” and “The Matrix” franchises, has officially been cast as the voice of Shadow, the enigmatic black antihero hedgehog. This confirmation comes via Variety, dispelling earlier rumors that Hayden Christensen was in contention for the role.
Scheduled as the third installment in the popular feature film series, the movie continues to chart the adventures of Sonic, the fastest blue hedgehog alive. Alongside Reeves, the cast boasts returning stars such as Jim Carrey reprising his role as Dr. Robotnik, Idris Elba lending his voice to Knuckles, and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. Additionally, Ben Schwartz returns to voice Sonic, while Colleen O’Shaughnessey joins the project as the voice of Tails.
Director Jeff Fowler helms the project once more, working from a script penned by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Despite fervent anticipation, plot details remain shrouded in secrecy. Notably, the visual effects are in the capable hands of Clear Angle Studios, Fin Design + Effects, and Track VFX.
