Mediawan Kids & Family is set to debut its latest adaptation of The Three Musketeers at this year’s MIPJunior, held during the 32nd International Kids Screenings & Co-production Market on 19-20 October 2024 in Cannes. This CG-animated series, reimagined for children aged six to ten, features an all-girl quartet of Musketeers—D’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis—who defend King Louis XIII and the Kingdom of France.
Produced by Method Animation, in collaboration with Palomar Animation, ZDF, France Télévisions, and Rai Ragazzi, the 52-episode series (11 minutes each) presents the beloved swashbucklers from Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel in a modern, girl-powered light. It will premiere at the Grand Theatre in the JW Marriott Cannes on 19 October, followed by a Q&A session with the creative team.
Lucy Smith, director of MIPCOM Cannes, expressed her excitement: “The Musketeers are French heroes that resonate globally across generations. This all-girl retelling aligns perfectly with contemporary values of diversity and modernity.”
Olivier Pérouze, the series’ producer, emphasized the fresh take: “The twist we’ve imagined opens the door to unprecedented missions for our Musketeers, and we’re confident that children worldwide will be captivated by their adventures set against the backdrop of 17th century France.”
MIPJunior 2024 will gather industry leaders from over 60 countries, while MIPCOM Cannes, the flagship global TV entertainment market, will run from 21-24 October 2024, welcoming over 11,000 delegates from 100+ nations.
