Netflix has unveiled its upcoming anime series “Sakamoto Days,” set to stream worldwide in January 2025. Accompanying the announcement, the streamer released an exciting teaser trailer, giving fans a glimpse into the action-packed assassin adventure inspired by Yuto Suzuki’s popular manga serialized in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump” since 2020.
Produced and animated by the renowned TMS Entertainment (known for LUPIN THE 3rd, Dr. STONE, BAKI), “Sakamoto Days” tells the story of legendary ex-hitman Taro Sakamoto. Now living a peaceful life with his family, Sakamoto must confront a series of assassin threats to maintain his tranquility.
The narrative follows Taro Sakamoto, once the greatest hitman feared by villains and revered by peers. His life took a turn when he fell in love with Aoi, a convenience store clerk. Following their love-at-first-sight meeting, Sakamoto retired from his lethal profession, married, had a daughter, and opened a mom-and-pop store in a quiet town. Now a plus-size family man, Sakamoto must fend off relentless assassins to protect his peaceful life.
Directed by Masaki Watanabe, with series composition by Taku Kishimoto and character design by Yo Moriyama, the series boasts a talented voice cast including Tomokazu Sugita as Taro Sakamoto, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura, Ayane Sakura as Lu Shaotang, Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto, Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto, and Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo.
