In a flurry of activity at Chennai’s Lorvin Studios, the much-anticipated Tamil fantasy action film “Kanguva” is rapidly nearing completion as the lion’s share of its visually stunning VFX portions are being finalized. Under the meticulous eye of director Siva, the film promises to be a visual extravaganza with a myriad of elements including a sprawling warfield, diverse animals, intricate people multiplication effects, and much more.
“Kanguva,” also known and marketed as “Kanguva: A Mighty Valiant Saga,” is poised to set screens ablaze with its tale of power and prowess. Spearheaded by Suriya, who will be seen in an impressive array of six distinct roles, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring the Tamil debuts of Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, alongside seasoned actors such as Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, and others.
Originally announced in April 2019 as “Suriya 39,” marking the esteemed actor’s 39th lead role, the project encountered several twists and turns along its journey to fruition. Pre-production commenced in January 2021, with plans for filming to commence post-Suriya’s completion of “Soorarai Pottru” (2020). However, delays ensued as director Siva undertook the helm of “Annaatthe” (2021), resulting in a postponement of filming and eventual shelving of the project.
However, amidst uncertainty, Suriya confirmed in January 2022 that “Kanguva” was still very much in the pipeline. Not without its challenges, the film saw producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja stepping down due to its substantial production costs, making way for UV Creations to join hands with Studio Green in bringing the ambitious project to life.
Now, with VFX nearing completion and 3D conversions underway, the “Kanguva” team is gearing up for a much-anticipated release by the end of the year. Fans eagerly await further announcements as the fantastical world of “Kanguva” prepares to unfold on the silver screen, promising a cinematic experience unlike any other.
